The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has released a new version of Form I-9, which is used for employment eligibility verification. The form includes several changes, including:
- Prompts to ensure information is entered correctly
- The ability to enter multiple preparers and translators
- A dedicated area for additional information
- A supplemental page for the preparer/translator
According to the USCIS, the revised form is easier to complete on a computer and streamlines the certification process for certain foreign nationals. Employers may begin using the new form right away, but are required to start using it by 1/22/17.
